We were generously awarded funds from the UK engineering, management, and development consultancy, Mott MacDonald, in recognition of SRA’s valuable work. This award will be used to purchase accessories for Raspberry Pi computers to enable our digital innovators in Sierra Leone and Guinea Bissau to provide students with technologically-grounded experiments.
Raspberry Pis are relatively cheap, palm-sized devices with the full capability of a traditional computer, but cost much less. Due to their rugged design and relatively low cost, they are very helpful for expanding the use of technology in classrooms across the developing world. The Raspberry Pi accessories that will be purchased thanks to this funding include accessories for robotics education and the CamJam EduKit to provide programming and hardware workshops.
